Hydrogen pipeline from Rostock to Wrangelsburg
HYROW is composed of HY for hydrogen, RO for Rostock, and W for Wrangelsburg. The name reflects both the purpose of the pipeline (hydrogen transport) and its route from Rostock to Wrangelsburg.
The HYROW pipeline is being implemented by the transmission system operator GASCADE and is part of the German hydrogen core network. HYROW will connect the Rostock port area (in particular “HyTechHafen Rostock”) with the Wrangelsburg area and the powerful north-south axis of the “Flow – making hydrogen happen” program. HYROW will thus ensure the reliable transport of hydrogen from northern Germany via the east to southern Germany. In the future, HYROW will contribute to security of supply and strengthen the independence of the German energy supply. Consumers and producers along the HYROW route will also be able to feed in or withdraw hydrogen, provided that the contractual requirements are met and the appropriate connections are in place.

- Planned construction phase: fall 2027–end of 2028
- Planned commissioning: end of 2028
