What is your vision for the energy system of the future? What role will hydrogen play in it?
Our vision is a secure, sustainable, and competitive energy system that reconciles climate protection with economic prosperity. Hydrogen will play a pivotal role in this – as a versatile energy carrier and as a key feedstock for industry. It enables the decarbonisation of sectors that are difficult to electrify, while also offering a solution for the long-term storage and transport of energy. SEFE sees itself as a driving force in this transformation, operating at the interface between production, transport, storage, and consumption.
What contribution is your project making?
SEFE is pursuing a holistic approach to promote a sustainable hydrogen economy:
- Through international partnerships, we are securing early access to climate-friendly hydrogen at the most competitive global prices.
- By developing flexible storage solutions that allow us to provide hydrogen to our customers based on demand.
- By participating in the development of a European hydrogen network, which will form the backbone of a secure supply.
Our goal is to ensure a secure and competitive energy supply for Europe.
What is needed to make the project a success?
Three key factors are crucial to the success of our hydrogen strategy, and we are actively advocating for them:
- International cooperation – Reliable partnerships with producers around the world are essential.
- Regulatory and financial frameworks – Clear political signals and long-term investment security are vital to drive the development of a hydrogen economy.
- Infrastructure and market development – A well-developed hydrogen network, storage solutions, and competitive pricing are the keys to widespread adoption.
